I know I seen a post before about heartburn relief but I can't find it and I am miserable(sp?). I had the stomach flu and it went away Wednesday and I still can hardly eat now bc of heartburn. I have had lots of heartburn but this is just crazy awful. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Some people find that papaya enzymes help with heartburn, but for me it only dulls it a bit.

Tums are my answer.

My old stand by is Breyer's (no other brand will do) Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.

But, I know there are better remedies out there. This just ALWAYS took care of it or made it tolerable for me.

Here's a couple of links for you to check out though:
http://www.mothering.com/discussions...artburn+relief

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...artburn+relief

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...artburn+relief

http://www.childbirth.org/articles/r...html#heartburn

http://www.naturalhealthhigh.com/nat...urnrelief.html

Well, I've tried almost everything. (natural and otherwise) Here's the list of things recommended to me:
Papaya enzymes (chew 1 o 2 after every meal)
Apple cider vinegar (1tbsp mixed into a glass of warm water)
Slippery elm lozenges
Tums
glass of milk
Gaviscon liquid without aluminum
avoiding certiain trigger food (spicy, wheat, sugars...)

All these worked at one point early on but mine became so severe I was waking up choking on stomach acid and having a hard time sleeping so a pharmacist recommended the over-the-counter Zantac.
2 tablets every 12 hrs. I've been sleeping like a baby ever since.
HTH!

I was going through everything trying to find something that would work. I now have to take 20mg of Pepcid every 12 hours and the burn is gone. If I forget to take it, I will get instant heartburn. Lucky for me, Wal-Mart has the generic on sale right now for $4 a box (50 pills), where they're usually almost $10. Finally, a sale at the right time.

I make a cup of chamomile tea with a spoonful of dill tossed in as both of those herbs help relieve it VERY quickly for me. If I'm out of tea, I drink a glass of milk.

I have very severe GERD, so I take Prilosec every day, and occasionally Zantac if I need to.

Zantac is relatively safe, and you can try 1 75mg, and if that doesn't work, double the dose.

Also, for immediate relief, if you can choke it down (have a big glass of water handy for after *GAG*), you can mix a ts of baking soda in a small cup of water. It's AWFUL, but works well immediately. It will make you burp a lot for a little while, but it does neutralize the acid quickly. Personally that's the best "I need help right now" thing I have found, and believe me, I have tried EVERYTHING over the years!
