So, for the first 5 months or so of my daughter's life she was in cloth diapers. Now she's in disposables. Why? Because I couldn't find a cloth diaper absorbent enough to contain her pee! I even tried adding a prefold into the pocket diapers such as the bumgenius diapers (which I loved) but that just made them too bulky. I truely hate disposables. I've only used the "safer" brands such as Seventh generation and "nature babycare" but I still hate the idea of disposables and hate having to buy them. I'd rather just be able to wash a load of diapers and have a bunch of clean ones right there ready to use. Can anyone suggest something that will work?! (and not make us broke, lol) Ugh.

What do you have? How often do you change? I would just try what you already have. Now that she is a bit older she might not be wetting so heavily or her shape might be a bit different so that the cloth isn't so bulky. How about a premium size prefold under a bummis wrap? I like the bikini twist fold with a snappi for trimness.

Well, right now my best friend is borrowing my stash. So i'm pretty much going to have to start over (or ask for some of them back, lol). I have I think a couple of my bum genius diapers (for emergencies) but other than that all I have is a bunch of prefolds which i've pretty much only used inside of pocket diapers

Pockets and AIOs are not great for heavy wetters, IMO. The prefolds under a cover would be better. I suggest selling your BGs and buy some fitteds. I have 3 very heavy wetters and we don't leak out of fitteds and prefolds, but they always leaked out of pockets and AIOs. For fitteds, I like cricketts, especially for night time. I do have a lot of others, but the cricketts will be your cheapest option. The others I like are mutts, dream eze, piddle poddles, bubu bebe on hyena cart, and fluffymail from etsy. Wool soakers or covers will help with leaking, too, but I only use wool at home since it's pretty bulky.

We used those thing they advertie on TV "Sham wows" or something like that. They really do hold ALOT urine .

Our local Dollar store sells knock off.

Second prefolds. They seem to hold more.

Maybe DC needs changed more often?? DD would pee like every 45 minutes.

prefolds or fitteds with a good cover. Did the trick for my super heavy wetters.

Hemp is always my choice of fabric. Not only for its absorbency but it has so many healthy properties to the fiber you can't deny it is a superior choice next to the skin.

The only way I've made cloth work with heavy wetting dd is to change her when we go to bed. She goes to sleep a good 3 or more hours before us, and we put her in a diaper when she goes down. When we come in, a new dipe is put on.

For us, we couldn't make any type of cloth work all night, and believe me, we tried nearly everything!

bamboo fitteds can hold a lot of pee. I also love hemp prefolds or just a regular prefold with a hemp doubler.

Bagshot row bamboo has a 'tucked in all night' diaper that was for an all night thing but you could use those during the day...They are EXTREMELY absorbent and for as many layers going on in that diaper, they are trim too

However, they are $25 a diaper and you have to 'stalk' them

I'm a hemp fan, too, and more and more prefer our fitteds with a cover. I really like SugarPeas 2-size fitteds. They are trim and really absorbant. Sometimes we use them alone overnight with any kind of cover and do fine - if ds has had a lot to drink, we add a doubler and never have leaks. And he sleeps a full 12+ hours!

We also sometiems use pockets at night and have found we do well with 3 inserts, 2 mf and one hemp or visa-versa - OR - a combo insert (mf and hemp together) with one extra insert. Those three together are still less bulky than a pf, in my opinion, and yet more absorbant.

A friend of mine had that issue and started using the Thirsties Pocket All In One with a Super Do Insert for night time and has been amazed at how well it has held up. Something smaller like the Loopy Do could help for day time and not make it as bulky if the AIO didn't hold up on it's own. I really like those inserts because they do absorb more with less bulk.

I agree about fitteds and prefolds being more absorbent than pockets.
