My name is Ashley, and I'm soon to become a single Milwaukee mama to 3 wee ones. I currently live in central Florida - but am looking to relocate to Milwaukee over the summer. My family lives up there, but my mother is providing no assistance (as in a place to stay for a couple of weeks) whatsoever to the 4 of us.
My dh and I have been seperated for almost a year now, and I just can't make it on my own down here. My house is litteratly falling apart (due to the hurricanes last year) the yard is more than I can physically keep up with, and I'm terrified of putting my sweet babies into daycare 8 hours a day so that I can make $8 an hour at Target or something.
I've been a SAHM for the past 6 years - it's all I know now. I do have a home based business with Sassy Parties (adult novelties and lingerie) but needless to say it's not paying a mortgage, or power bills, etc... my STBX does help out financially, but not all the way anymore, as it's not his place to I guess.
So - I'm looking to move home (I grew up in Racine) to be near my sisters if nothing else. The problem is, I'm coming up there with little money in my pocket, no job (nor job skills really at this point) and little more than the clothes on our backs. Down here we're in "the system" which means we do receive food stamps and my kids have Medicaid. We have a WIC appointment in August, as my boys are young enough to qualify still.
What can I do at this point? I've been online all day today trying to find assistance resources - low income housing being number one. I'd like to go to school when we get up there, so that I can DO something with my life beyond making minimum wage someplace forever and ever.
If any of you local mamas know where or how to point me in the right direction, I couldn't thank you enough. I've dedicated my life to my little ones so far, and I don't want them to suffer becasue things didn't work out between their father and I. *sigh*
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you all better.
