I had it pretty bad last time, it is baaaack!
Anyone else got it? What do you do to help it besides antacids?
I heard about some carbonated beverage that you can get from health food stores forgot what it is called.

Sorry, not much help. I end up taking pepcid every other day or so. (usually 1/2 a tablet)

I tried taking tums but they did nothing for me and honestly, I have tried so many homeopathics that just haven't worked, so I stopped spending the money.

Sitting upright to sleep.

Avoiding antacids b/c they actually make you produce more acid.

You can try gaviscon for nighttime sleeping. Papaya maybe. I didn't find Thayer's to work for me (slippery elm I believe - they're really gravelly). Yogurt/probiotics.

Avoiding common trigger foods for heartburn. Toddler begging for book to be read.

Not in your group, but from a fellow sufferer due in September... Last week I bought an inexpensive bottle of calcium/magnesium/vit D supplements recommended for my leg cramps, and they've had the very welcome side effect of cutting down on the heartburn (I suspect it's the extra calcium helping). I bought them at Trader Joe's, and they're food-based, so perhaps they're better absorbed than Tums. If I take one right before I go to sleep at night, the heartburn doesn't wake me up, and I feel really good until the following evening (when I pop another one and go to sleep). I've also had no leg cramps in the last week. It could be a placebo effect, but it's working so well for me, and I see no downsides. Good luck, heartburn is my biggest enemy right now!

Wasn't happening laying down, I was sitting up in my computer chair.

I do need some cal/mag supplements anyways so now, double reason to get them.

Found the name of the drink I was talking about "Hansen's Natural Soda " but I checked their website and it has high fructose corn syrup as one of the ingredients... not sure what is so special about them... I think regular carbonated water would be healthier... add a little real fruit juice in for flavor...

I'm not sure why this works... but someone recommended putting lime juice in my drinking water last pregnancy. It really helped with the heartburn. Worth a try. Sorry it's bugging you!
