I have an almost 4 yr. old DD who HATES going to bed 7 days a week. I am getting frustrated lol, because I look forward to "my" time after she goes to bed. We have the same routine and read to each other every night. She cries not to go to bed and thinks of everything possible as to why she needs to get up...ex: water, bad dream (althought it will have only been 1 minute since she was put to bed), potty, etc.....ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Thanks,
Jen full time mommy to my little angel

When my DD goes into those phases, I am loving but firm. She can get up and go to the potty by herself if she wants, she is not to come downstairs. We get her water, so she's set with that, and then anything else I offer a hug but I do not stay, I repeat that its time to go to bed.

Generally for my DD, I suggest that she can read a book if she wants, but I will not stay and read the book. (we have a set number of books I read, and that's it)

I have found that remaining firm and consistent, not giving in is what makes the difference - DH has a much harder time getting her to bed, because he gives in to the little arguments and pleadings for one more book, etc. DD knows I stick to my agreements - 4 books and that's it and as a result she goes to bed very easily for me.
