My Son is going today for a check up before being registered for kindergarten. We delay and opt out of a a lot of vaccines, but in September he had a tb test. Today he is going back and I was told my mom and brother (they arent credible) that its mandatory in California to get it and they will make me get it today or wont finish his physical... I haven't done my research on tb testing :X and I REALLY would rather just wait until September or further. California is one of those 18 states that "let you" not vaccinate under philosophical beliefs. Can they make us do this for him to start school? My mom and brothers argument was that I can sign a waver for everything else but tetanus shots and tb tests I have no choice for? HELP we go in an hour!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that I wouldn't let the appointment pressure me into something that I didn't want to do. If you need to go back with better/more information, do that. Wait until you have all the facts, and don't buy into the answer that the doctor or nurse give you.<br><br>
I have never heard that you can waive out of all shots except tetanus. That makes no sense.

It doesn't make sense.. I thought Tetanus was a combined shot anyways. My mom and brother aren't credible and they love to do exactly what a doctor tells them.. SO really I think they were getting down my throat but I wanted to go to the Dr this morning with a clear head about it instead of feeling like i would be pressured by them.. which wouldn't work, but they have before tried to get me frazzled. -- thanks for your reply mama!

Tetanus is covered under the exemption - all vaccines are.<br><br>
It doesn't matter anyway since exemptions are only for school and have nothing what so ever to do with Dr. Appts. You have the right to refuse anything at a Dr.s office (or any medical setting).<br><br>
Also, don't sign the 'bad mommy' form.

CA has philo exemptions, so you can pick and choose and still get an exemption. For the TB test, refuse the skin test and order a blood test instead. It is called the Quantiferon Gold test. I'd prefer a blood test over that injection test any day! You can check the quantiferon website to find providers (labs) who do it.
