OK I have read for over a half an hour and I am taking a short cut and asking. I am just starting with cloth on my CHUNKY 8 mo/about 25 lbs boy and about a 5-6 disposable diaper. I know there are a ton to choose from and everyone has different ones they like. I would love to hear what mom's of chubbies like. I have the Bum-Genius 2.0 one size pocket and they BARELY fit his tummy. I thought about trying fitted with a cover. I would hate to spend so much and not like the ones I choose. Can I get a recommendation for one that my chunky guy would like?
Thanks in advance for your time.

Happy Heinys, definitely. My BG's barely fit my DD too and she is very chunky. (7 inch rise, 13 inch thighs, 32ish lbs) The legs are larger in the HH's than the Fuzzy Buns that I have, and the waist is larger (plus the velcro is much bigger) on the HH than the BGs. My Dd can pop the velcro on a BG with just her tummy like nobody's business.

We have 1 medium HH that DD can wear with minimum/day time level padding and the larges she fits in great, even with 2 prefolds stuffed inside (1 infant and 1 toddler) We'll have to retire our BGs soon, but I definitely see the HH's as being good till she's potty trained (and even if they werent they are also available in an XL and an XXL).

I like haute pockets pretty well for my chunky son (he a little smaller than that at that age). And he has not started slimming down yet, really. I'm still waiting for a few different kinds, including a happy heineys, to ship to us, so I'm not sure how they work yet, but I've heard they're great for chunky thighs!

Haute pockets are smaller in the waist than BG! 2.0, so I wouldn't try them if the BG! are almost too small.

I really like the fit of the swaddlebees pockets on my chunky baby, but he's a light wetter, and I'm not sure how they'd work on a heavier wetter.

Mostly, I use flats and prefolds. With the flats, I can get a really trim fit by folding it around my baby's thighs, and making sure all of the absorbency is where he needs it (and there's none adding bulk to places where he doesn't need it).

If I were you, I would wait to invest in fitteds until after your baby starts walking (or crawling really well) so that you have a better idea of what his body is going to look like for the rest of his diapering days.

HTH!

I would stick with flats or prefolds with a Prorap cover until you see how your monkey might slim down. My older two were so chunky they were in Lgs at 8 onths, but stayed there for a good year. Proraps always fit well.
