Background: My 14 month old dd just started eating a few bites of solids and actually swallowing them a few weeks ago. Then last week she had a really bad stomach bug where she threw up all day and ever since then has gone back to no solids. So the only food she is getting is breastmilk.
So, for the past few days, she has been getting a rash whenever she has a bowel movement. Yesterday it was really bad. It was all bumpy and red and she cried all day. So I just changed her a lot and kept it dry, let her run around without her diaper some, etc. Last night she didn't poop at all and this morning, her rash was all but gone. It was still a little red, but looked almost normal. So, then I heard her poop. I ran to get a warm wash cloth and changed her. It was only against her skin for the time that it took me to go get the wash cloth. Her skin was all blistered and red. I know it's the poop that's doing it, because the skin around her anus is blistered the most. It doesn't help that she has been going every 20 minutes or so. With each bowel movement she has, the skin gets more blistered. Why is this happening all of the sudden? Why is her poop burning her skin? Could it have something to do with the stomach virus she had? Could she have developed a food allergy all of the sudden? But like I said earlier, she isn't eating solids, so the only food she is getting is what I eat through my milk. This is really painful for her. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
