hi everyone-

i have a cd-type emergency here and i really need your help.

you see, a friend was house-sitting for us and i asked him to throw our cds (which were in the washer) into the drier. i had to leave before the wash was done. no brainer, right? wrong.

he put fabric softener sheets in my drier. :cry some of them had to go thru extra drier cycles, so who knows how much drier sheet garbage got on them. i am heartbroken. it was my entire stash of fitted dipes. literally, hundreds of dollars.

is there hope? or should i just get rid of them? i'm truly heartbroken b/c i am totally out of money. so if they are dead, so is our short-lived life as a cd family.

please help me figure out what to do- if there is anything... i am listing my exact stash below.

this is what was in the drier:
3 FMBG fitteds, fleece lined with fleece topped inserts
1 FMBG AIO, fleece lined with fleece topped insert
1 Sugar Pie Baby AIO, fleece lined with fleece topped trifold
3 Celestial Baby fitteds, hemp terry with hemp inserts(cannot tell if it has fleece or not)
Cuddlebuns fitted, fleece lining and topped insert
2 Sugar Peas hemp fitted with fleece topped insert
2 Sugar Peas hemp/cotton fitted, cannot tell if there is fleece lining with fleece topped inserts
1 Punkin Butt Fleece topped, hemp stuffin for FB
about 12-15 Premium UBCPF

btw, my dh thinks i am being totally irrational. i am sitting here
and he is asking me what the big deal is...

First of all,
's to you. Secondly, I don't think they are ruined. I would do a full wash like regular and then if needed, strip them. But, I think once (or a few continuous) through the dryer with a dryer sheet isn't going to completely thrash them. You need to get that coating off them and I would think a good wash/rinse will do that.

I am sure they will be fine. One time I accidentally bought fabric softener instead of detergent and did a whole load of dipes in just fabric softener!!! I didn't notice until I took them out of the dryer and they felt like butter! I checked the detergent bottle to see what the deal was and found out it was fabric softener!!! They were fine. I really couldnt tell a difference in their absorbancy just their texture.

My mom did this one time, when we were on vacation. I went to take a shower and I told her to put them in the dryer when they were done washing. She also put my Fuzzi Bunz in too! They were fine. I was afraid ds would get a rash, but he didn't! Thank God!

I'd wash them again and see how they feel.

My mom has put fabric softener in our diapers a couple of times when we wash them at her place, but it's the liquid stuff. I finally got her to stop that though !

My parents use fabric softener on bros dipes every time. I try to tell them not to, but they don't listen. The dipes aren't up to 100% absorbancy, but they still work just fine. I'm sure your dipes will be fine too. Michelle

okay... deep breaths... better now...

i think we will try the dawn thing tommorrow. i'm going to do two super hot cycles with, the 3-4 without (or until there are no suds).

and i have learned a valuable lesson- STEP AWAY FROM THE DIAPERS! seriously, no one is touching them but me.

sheesh, i didn't realize how much i loved them until i saw them next to a softener sheet- i went psycho!

thank you much for your help and sympathy!

Yeah, I actually have little daymares about other people washing my diapers.

ITA that once or twice with the softener won't kill them. My MIL added downey to ours once and they were fine.
