I posted about this earlier today in breastfeeding. I got some help there on the diet issue now I need help with the rash

DD Is 7 1/2 months. She is breastfeed on demand. She eats sweet potatoes and sweet peas on occassion.

She has been getting this recurring diaper rash off and on since birth. It looks HORRID. It is bright red patches that look incredibly painful. She has recently started breaking out in similar patches on her face and trunk.

We were originally told this was yeast by our ex-pedi. We switched pedis recently. Our new pedi thinks that this is a food allergy. She says something in our diet is causing this rash.

I am going on an elimination diet to try to clear it up.

In the meantime though what on earth can I do for her bottom? It is incredibly painful for her. I have tried Calendula, Desitin, and even some TTO ointment that contained beeswax.

I would really appreciate some help on something to put on this rash.

Thanks,
Molly

my son has a massive rash on his butt from an offending food. he is already intolerant to milk, soy, wheat, gluten, strawberries....so now its somethign else. there is nothing that i have tried that helps his allergenic rashes....im sure steroids would help, but i am not giving that to my son. you just have to wait for it to clear up. i hope you can figure out what caused it.

i'd try (1) spritzing breastmilk on the rash; (2) lightly rubbing in coconut oil on the rash; and (3) sprinkling probiotics (baby form - bifidus especially) on the rash. in that order.

I would NOT put breast milk on it right now since the allergen is still in the milk. Coconut can also be an allergen so you need to decide about that one.

Ask your doc if there is a cream that he would recommend (sometimes a burn cream works well).

C has 16 different allergies and we work really hard to get her to have a good diet.

Good luck with the elimination diet!
