OK, I got some hemp yesterday to make my own pocket stuffers. I washed it once on hot, and dryed at the hottest setting. Tested it w/ water. The water ROLLED OFF. So this morning I BOILED the hemp for about 10 or 15 minutes, and dryed on hot again. Just tested it and the water ROLLED OFF!!! What am I doing wrong? I didn't even know you had to "break in" hemp! I wanted so much to make my inserts while the kids where resting today so I could use my pockets while out this afternoon and at the pediatricans... Please tell me what I can do the make them absorbant.

BTW it is 55% hemp 45% french terry.

TIA!!

Hemp definitely needs to be treated. It is full on natural oils. Boiling was a good thing, but you should run it through the wash again after boiling, or else all the oils that were boiled out just get re-absorbed in the dryer!
Good luck! I know I don't get really good results with hemp until I've washed a good 5-6 times.
