What do I do? My dd (23.5 mo) has a new bedtime of 9:30 - 10:30 pm. We recently moved and it seems to have started after that. It is really light outside until around 9:15pm, I'm thinking that has something to do with it. I just purchased some curtains that partially block some of the light, hoping it will help.

So, between her 10pm bedtime and her new, one hour nap, I have no down time and no time to get things done. I'm starting to feel frustrated. Any ideas on how I can get her to bed sooner?

Thanks Mamas.

i went through this in March when we moved. Dd's sleep habits were pretty whacky for a few weeks. Now with summer time here, bedtime is at least an hour later. My advice is surrender. She will adjust, it just takes time. Either that or fall will come, night will come sooner and she will adjust to that.

I know how you feel for sure!! Maggie just went to bed- 10:30pm. I have actually done the same as punkprincess- I just go with the flow. BUT, we don't HAVE to be up at any certain time in the morning. It does make a difference if you're trying to get out of the house to work or what have you. Maggie takes an 1 1/2 nap usually, sometimes I get lucky to have 2 hours. I get everything done when she's awake, after she goes to bed (I'm a night owl), and on the weekends if we're around. If not, something doesn't get cleaned, we have take out for a night, or I'm down to wearin' panties that shouldn't be worn in case I'm in a car wreck.
The schedule will swing into it's own rhythm, just follow the dance of your sweet girl!!

Just want to say we are going through this too! I agree that it probably has something to do with it staying light out longer. Cole went to sleep at 9:45 tonight. Plus he doesn't seem to be sleeping proportionally later! He is making it up at his naptime though, which is lucky for me.

My 2.5 year old DD has been doing the same thing--on days when she takes naps (usually 1-1.5 hours) we're lucky if she's asleep by 10. However, if she doesn't take a nap, she's out by 7:30. She's seems to be moving toward not napping, which would be great because she would actually get more sleep but right now it varies so we can never predict what our nights will be like.

What time is she napping? Maybe an earlier nap would help.

I could have written this post- we are going through the exact same thing with dd. I think in our situation, she is needing to nap less, but is still needing naps to a certain degree. She can't seem to fall asleep for her nap any time before 2-3 p.m., but if she doesn't nap at all, she is very weepy and cranky by 6 p.m. The last few weeks for us have been pretty exhausting, it helps to remember these phases don't last forever

Thanks for the replies. "Going with the flow" is basically what I've been doing. I stopped trying at the usual 7:30 - 8:00p and just start around 9 or so, or whenever things around here begin to wind down. I just thought maybe there was something I could do to help her.

Yes, it does help to remember, "it's just another phase!" I tend to forget that, thanks for the reminder!!

She usually naps between 12 & 1.

Thanks again!
