I'm really hoping someone can help me. We're taking our 13 month old daughter up north to see relatives. It'll be about a 6 hour drive. She's not the sitting still type, and hates being restrained. I've gotten some good ideas of toys and books to keep her entertained, and we're leaving at 5 a.m., but I'm still nervous about how she'll do. I've decided that as I'm pregnant and going to need to stop several times anyway, I'd like to plan a few stops throughout the drive every couple hours at parks, or places she can get out and run around. So I thought I'd ask on here if any WI parents have good ideas of toddler friendly parks or places to stop along our route that aren't too far off the highway. We're leaving from just outside of Madison and ending in Ashland, taking I-94/US-51. Thank you in advance!

If you're going through Stevens Point (and I'm 99.999% sure you are), there are a few options. They just opened a new accessible playground (accessible to both kids with special needs and kids without) that would probably be pretty toddler-friendly. I'm not sure, though... I haven't seen it in person yet. It's a ways off the highway, though... maybe like 5 minutes' drive, and it's a little confusing because the road it's on curves around our lovely "mall."

Otherwise... hmm... There's a nice big park right by where I'm living right now. No potty there, though. I'd totally let you use mine, but we probably (HOPEFULLY; landlords are having trouble getting the previous occupant to move out
: ) will be in a different house by then. It's also probably five minutes off the highway, but come to think of it, it might not be too toddler-friendly because it used to be an elementary school. Equipment might be too "old" for a toddler.

Although, speaking of elementary schools, there are several just off the highway. Madison School is close to the Business 51 exit (the north end exit), Bannach School is very close to the Highway 10 exit, and Washington School is kind of in between the Highway 10 exit and the Highway 66 exit. Bannach is probably the closest to the highway, and it's conveniently located in a neighborhood behind Target... so you can potty at Target.

Wow, three paragraphs and no real answer. Go me.

PM me if you want directions to anything.
