Hi all, I've been using cloth for a while now, but one thing gets me every time I go to buy new diapers - there's no basis for comparison.
For example, I was eyeing off some diapers on the internet the other day and couldn't figure out even how many thicknesses they were, let alone if they'd work for nights!
So, I've decided we all need to get together and do some basic absorbency comparisons. I've started a site http://nappynerd.googlepages.com/home with a table of how much water each type of diaper I have on hand will hold, and I've put instructions on there for testing your own stash.
Now I need help from other people! Please, if you have the time and a set of kitchen scales, visit my site for the instructions and contribute!
I'm envisioning a cloth diaper resource like betabase.info is for pregnancy HCG levels.
I'm planning to put up another list for absorbencies of different fabrics in the next few days. It'll probably be based on weighing a 10cm by 10cm square of fabric and working from there.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
