I'm not looking for pants, which are easier to fit; my babe is hot-natured, and I'm finding we need covers most of all. I'd be perfectly happy with shorts (not capris), if they will just fit.

Here's what I'm looking for:

-Wool

-Front-snapping preferred; side-snapping acceptable if it will give me a great fit; aplix only as a last resort, because I despise the stuff. For shorts, obviously, no snaps required.

I can't give measurements right now, I'm afraid, but I can give a nice, long list of what works and what doesn't:

-SOS diapers fit beautifully. I love these diapers and want to find a cover that fits just as well.

-Prefolds no longer work well in the bikini twist. I'm going to have to experiment to find out what fold does work now, because that's the bulk of our stash.

-Earth Seedlings cover, M - fits well around the waist, too big at the thighs.

-Fuzbomb, M - fits at the thighs and waist thanks to the gussets, but somehow the placement of snaps doesn't work quite right. I have to stretch the tabs oddly if not snapping on the same set of snaps for thighs vs. waist. Gets a poofy fit some days -- when we put it over a particularly trim diaper, or maybe if Ishie's just having a thin day.

-SP, L - no one warned me these run HUGE. I also ordered them before he trimmed down appreciably, so they just keep getting bigger.

-Pickle Pants shorts, L - These have kind of a wonky fit on Ishie. I'll try them again, since we just got them and he's only worn them once, but they seemed to come up too high in the back and to be loose in the front -- not loose at the waist, but the fabric bunched up between his waist and crotch. IIRC, they also didn't fit quite right at the waist in the front, but I'll check that when he wears them again.

Hmm, my guy is 2 1/2 and big, the size of most 3-4 year olds. I love the fit of SOS on him too, so sounds like we have similar shaped/sized kids.

My favorite wool covers are L Kiwi Pie (nearly impossible to get though), L KIYP soaker (fits like underwear over an SOS, no joke, but again very hard to get!) and my SP size L that I accidentially felted. Yep, it was HUGE until it got washed with my dipes once on hot, now the fit is wonderful. Don't know if you want to risk it :LOL but I really love the size mine is now and use it almost daily!

You may want to try someone who knits in the perfection pattern, I've heard wonderful things about both the pants and shorts. I know the mama at www.rumpknits.com makes them.

And another vote for Celtic Wolf! What size does your dc wear? I have a large (sz 3) front-snapping Celtic Wolf that I could lend to you so you could try the fit before buying one (they're a litte pricy but worth every penny IMHO).

I am lurking most of the time, due to being in France and not knowing that much about US Wahms, but have picked up a few things from this board....I got a loveybums wool wrap (the stretchy one) last month, and I LOVE it. . The wrap fits over her big nighttime nappy(a UK Tots Bots), and I have used it all month with no leaks dampness or smell and it closes the nappy in well, no gaping. I was bummed to have missed the last stocking...

Hm... I may try shrinking one of my SP covers, just to see what happens.

I'll take a look at KIYP -- I knit, and I'm a pretty good designer, so I might be able to guess at a pattern by looking at photos.

Loveybums we've tried. The fit was all wrong on him -- so bad I forgot to even mention it, since we used it for such a short period of time.

I'd love to try a Celtic Wolf cover, but I think I'll need a size 2 (which she now appears to be calling "medium." Jaye, I haven't forgotten I owe you a PM). I can only ever seem to find heavily embroidered covers on her site in Ishie's size, and those are expensive and not the look I prefer. So I guess I'll start haunting the TP to look for one.

Haven't tried a Stacinator, mainly because it seems to get such mixed reviews I get a feeling I won't care for it. If I run across a really good deal on one, I'll give it a shot.

And I used to have a Bumpy Wool, which Ishie outgrew long ago. Last time a tried Bumpy covers, the L was too small and XL didn't fit right; and the big thing is, the velcro scratches his belly raw. Not going back to those. (They fit him beautifully for quite a while, but when he started slimming up, they started scratching him.)

Thanks for all the responses so far!
