I used cloth for 6 months...prefolds and covers...i used to hand wash every 2 days and hang to dry...sometimes i would use the dryer.
Well for the past month we have been traveling and staying with friends and family and i'm using disposibles ...well i want to go back to cloth...i'm feeling the need to...mainly to save money....disposibles are costing about $10-20 a week....so...i can hand wash..no problem...what about drying in a dryer where the family uses fabric softner in the wash and dryer sheets in the dryer?
Could i mess up my cloth if i use the dryer? They do not have a line to hang the diapers on. So the dryer would need to work. any suggestions mamas? I could do a few loads of my laundry first and not use softner or dryer sheets...would that help "clean the dryer"..or would it be to risky? We are looking to be in our own house soon...but i would love to go back to cloth asap...i can wait a few more weeks if i have to.

Lots of people wash at laundromats where others use fabric softener and dryer sheets, and they are usually fine. If you're worried, you could throw in a load of towels or clothes into the dryer first to maybe take up any residue.

We use a foldable laundry rack-they have them at Bed Bath and Beyond and other stores. This is not my exact one, but it's similar:

It folds down flat and is easy to store.

I agree that you could probably do it. Especially since you are using prefolds - they are much less finicky than synthetic fibers. I would do as you said and run your other loads first when you can, but I bet you'll do fine.
