I am looking for a double reclinable umbrella stroller for our trip to Disney. We don't want to carry around those huge double strollers, but we do want to take a stroller because ofcourse there will be times when one of the kids is sleeping or they want to sit down. So I found a couple of strollers that matched my needs, and now i want to know what you guys think.

This one (Jeep) is my favorite, although I haven't seen it but it looks great

Jeep Wrangler All-Weather Twin Sport Umbrella Stroller

This one looks a bit more simple but I guess it would do it too.

Kolcraft Tour Mate Umbrella Stroller, Monroe

any thoughts??

I liked the Jeep....sturdier than the other one. Looked easier to push. I also liked the Graco side-by-side. It's a great deal more expensive though. I'd go with the Jeep stroller. Sturdy , great design. I'm assuming the seats lay back , even though it didn't say so.

You may want to get thyself to an actual store and check these out. You can go to a baby store , you don't have to buy from them. I'm wondering if your kids' legs will fit properly , if the seats recline more than just one notch , if width wise your kids will have enough room to put stuff , if it's easy to push , etc...

Have you called Disney ? Do they have double strollers to rent ? That may be cheaper....but then you run into the same problems...not knowing how it'll fit.

Yes, they have strollers to rent at Disney. They are these:

expensive and not exactly practical. We'll be staying at the Disney Resort and the disney strollers are only for the parks. We need one to go from the resort, to the transportation, to the parks, and then we're going to different resorts for dinner on some nights so we need it for then too. I don't mind buying a stroller, plus I guess I could use it for later when we're back home too. oh and also, the reason why I want an umbrella one is because when riding the buses or monorails, a regular stroller wouldn't fit.

I was in disneyland in March and rented a stroller and I say take your own. the strollers were O.K. but you cannot take them off site or even to downtown disney. Between the two you are looking at I would go for the Jeep it looks sturdier

If there is a way to check them out in person, do that. You may discover things about them that you can't tell online. In particular how do each of them feel - pushing two kids in a stroller is hard on your arms if there isn't any shock absorbtion at all.

That said - by the looks of it....

I would go for the jeep. The handles seem higher (you don't want to have to hunch over to push it) and there seems to be some storage on the side. Storage is important because as you well know, while traveling with children you need supplies. Also - I noticed that generally they didn't check the bag on the back of our stroller (it was mesh and hard to see - not a large dip bag). We got our juice and snacks in every time without a problem.

Well - we went to Disney in October with a just turned 2 year old and a 4 year old. We stayed at a Disney Resort and rented a stroller at the park. We did not have any problems with renting. The transportation from the resort to the park was really close to the hotel so there was not much walking involed before we got over to the park. The stroller rental is the first thing in the door. They were nice and big and have a sun shade. Sometimes you can buy one cheaply from a person about to return one. There is quite an underground stroller network operating.

If you still buy one I have a Jeep stroller (not the same one) and the quality is nice. It is sturdy and has lots of pockets.

Have fun on your trip! Even at such a young age our kids loved it and STILL talk about it!

Do you have a price range you want to stick with? I know someone who had the jeep double, and she had to get a new double, b/c the jeep fell apart. However, I have asked other moms with that double how they liked it and they all liked it. The woman whose jeep double fell apart got the chicco citi double instead and she loves it. I have the single version of the chicco double (london) and love it even more than my maclaren techno. I also heard that the kolcraft double umbrella, while not fancy has gotten good ratings. I think it all depends on your budget. Oh, and if you have a choice of colors, get something that is red or brighter colored. We took our combi soho (red) to disneyland last summer and it was soooo easy to spot our stroller among the sea of blue and black strollers. I could suggest more expensive doubles if you want... but personally for me, I only use my nice strollers for home and get a, "cheaper" one for travel, b/c I am afraid the airlines might damage it or it might get stolen, and if that happened, I'd be pretty upset that one of my, "nice" strollers got ruined/stolen.

Just make sure it is somewhat lightweight.
And do you have any good bsck carriers?I know it would be tiring to carry them, but I think if we were gtoing I would probably bring baby carriers(ergo, meitei, hotsling) as well because I am uber-paranoid about kids getting lost/stolen

Independent reclining seats
Sun rider canopies adjusts to block sun

although I'm not sure how far they recline, but my kiddos are 16 months and 4 years old so they don't need to be reclined completely like a newborn would. I wonder if BRU has this stroller to check it out there.

oh, also... where will the stroller go on the plane? Everytime I've travelled with babies I haven't had strollers with me so I'm not sure how this works. If it's umbrella strollers will we take it on the plane with us in that front compartment for strollers? or do they all go down with the luggage?

You give the stroller to an attendant right at the door of the plane, then it goes down into the hold. They will bring it back up to you as you deplane.

Or you could just check it with your luggage. I find it much easier to get through the airport with my 3yo walking and slinging my baby.

We go to Disney(land) a lot, and I'd recommend renting one. It is a major PITA folding your stroller and getting all of your stuff together when you're trying to get on the trams and monorails. DD is 21 months, and most of the time when we go to Disney, we park our stroller and walk. When DD gets tired, I carry her or we go back and get our stroller.

If you do decide to take your own, get something light and easy to carry. When I take our stroller to Disney, I take my Combi Savvy, it's really lightweight, folds easily, and has a strap so that I can carry it over my shoulder when it's folded. It was like $100 or $120, not sure if you want to spend that much, but it's really worth it if you do. The storage basket is small, but I usually take a backpack or rent a locker at Disney. The lockers at DIsneyland are $5/day and you can get in and out of them as often as you want.

Also, gate check your stroller, it's the easiest option and it will be waiting there for you when you get off the plane.

Have fun!!! I'm so jealous!!

If you can swing the price I would go for the Maclaren double. They are sao well made and a breeze to push and fold up.

I'll second a Maclaren. They're expensive,no doubt about that, but soooo worth it.I wish I would have bought one years ago.We have the Triumph model(single),and are seriously considering a second, either a Volo or a double if we can find one used.We bought it for ds who is almost 4.They hold up to 55lbs.Dd is almost 7 and still fits. We're going to Disney World in August and I'm bringing 2 strollers(or a double Mac) so we can all have a good time.I know dd will get very tired quickly so a stroller will come in handy.

Personalize you stroller in some way.Something that will make it stand out in a crowd.I may use a balloon or a bright ribbon. You can also lock the wheels somehow so it can only be pushed on 2 wheels(So Disney cast members can move it,but no one can put their child in it and use it),or somehow lock it so it can't be folded. This will deter theft,if a stroller can't be pushed or folded to bring on transportation no one will want it.I'm trying to figure out how to do this :LOL ,it was something I was told to do on another board. They said to use a bike lock,so I'm going to try that.HTH!
