Also if you have hard water you can get a box of water softener and put a scoop in with every load - it makes a huge difference.

Yeah, actually, most grocery stores carry it. The most popular brand I've seen is Calgon - it's in the laundry aisle, in a blue box. Usually next to the Borax.
