Sorry for another present thread but I need to purchase gifts for my 5 & 7 yr old cousins. I use to spend lots of time with them but am now far away. I have no idea what children those ages would enjoy. Mine are much younger.

So here is the chalange: no mic, and on a $30 per kid budget. Thanks.

Hmm... Well, my dd is 6 and likes Barbies and Polly Pockets. Probably mic, though. My 7 yr old ds likes Super Heroes.

Both kids were just given $30. MP3 Players and those have actually been a HUGE success. (We're a technology-infused family -- we bleed geek.)

Do the kids like books? Maybe books about their favorite things? What about a trip to the movies? $30. will go far for a kid! Ok, maybe too far (snacks ), but half of it for a movie ticket and then the other half a gift certificate to a bookstore or toy store?

A CD of children's music or storytelling? My kids like David Grover and the Big Bear Band and I like Len Cabral. (I may be wrong on the spelling of Cabral.) Fun kid music and stories.

If there's a girl, some fun bath and body care stuff. Heck, even if there's a boy -- my ds loves bubble baths. I make them bath salts w/ epsom salt and essential oils.

Science experiment kits are fun, too.

I think that art supplies are always a good idea!

Great idea! My aunt has given me notepads w/ my name on it, she had it done for her girls recently (8 and 11), glitter glue pens, real painters supplies (not crayola!), etc. She goes all out.
