We have a "family" smoothie time each night, and I really want to try some new recipes...but something easy.

I have looked around online but I always find the same old strawberry/banana type recipes....

I refer to make them using yogurt & soy milk or juice (no ice, as dh is so picky, lol)...anyone got some tasty new fruit combos??

I would also appreciate suggestions on things to "slip" in there, that the boys won't notice, other than the flax seed oil I put in now.

TIA!!

I use kefir instead of yogurt and get it flavored ( rasberry)
I use frozen fruit so that I don't have to use ice. You can get all kinds of frozen fruits with no sugar added if you look, better than fresh because they don't go bad and give the smoothies that frozenness without the ice. You can slip in kale. ( i usually have it preblended and frozen in ice cube trays so all you do is drop it in!)

E loves kiwi mango, kiwi strawberry, mango blueberry, pineapple cherry, be daring!!! Hope that helps!

My current favorite is frozen banana, vanilla soy milk and almond or peanut butter.

If you like the taste of coconut we also really like to use coconut milk in our smoothies sometimes. Frozen mango with agave nector and coconut milk is yummy.

I usually put some hemp seeds in my smoothies and the kids never notice.

My kids all have smoothies in the morning....

kefir, coconut milk, small amt of hemp oil, hemp milk, dandelion leaves or kale, sunflower seed butter, bananas. My kids are finicky about the fruit I use but any fruit would be ok...esp. mango or papaya for extra vit a! And pineapple would be good too except it's too acidic for my littlest one

Frozen bananas, vanilla rice milk, vegan protein powder, almond butter, carob powder. Now I think I'll go make one.

I haven't read everyone's suggestions, but here are mine:

Instead of mixing with any ice, we just use frozen fruits, they mix much easier in the blender than ice anyway.

You could do something like all berries, with different frozen berries, instead of strawberry and banana. It really does taste different without the bananas compared to with banana.

I did one with a banana, some frozen strawberries, a couple of tbl of pineapple juice, and a couple of tbl of peanut butter and it was YUMMY.

You can do something like kiwi/banana juice blend with kiwi fruit. Or orange juice and oranges. or peach juice blend/peach nectar and peaches. You get the idea.

Oh yeah, carrots are easy to slip in, even my DH will drink fruit smoothies with some carrot in it, and he's really picky about veggies.

ETA:

I found a few recipes:

Coconut-Almond:
2 medium bananas
1 cup milk
3 tbs shredded coconut
3 Tbs almond butter
1/2 tsp vanilla

freeze bananas. pour milk into blender, add coconut, almond butter, vanilla, and banana. Cover and blend.

Orange & Cherry:
3/4 cup soymilk or milk
3/4 cup orange juice, chilled
3/4 cup frozen unsweetened pitted dark cherries
1 medium carrot, cut up and chilled
1/4 cup tofu
1 tbs honey (optional)

Pumpkin (lots of vit A & C in this one but does call for sugar):
1 15-oz can pumpkin, chilled
1 12-oz can evaporated milk, chilled
1 cup orange juice, chilled
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 medium banana (optional)
ground nutmeg or cinnamon (optional)
