hey ladies....i am in the VERY begining stages of starting a home school co-op<br>
but this summer (as my summer job....) i will doing some loose homeschooling or unschooling rather of several children in my home wiht myself as the only adult....<br>
i have a 9 month old<br>
and there will be:<br>
another 9 month old<br>
6 year old<br>
two 9 year olds<br>
two 4 yr olds<br>
10 yr<br><br>
maybe not all of them on the same days every day..but sometimes that might happen<br><br>
ANY advice, activities, waht ever<br>
is WAY WELCOME<br><br>
i am a cert. public school teacher, worked in day cares, worked as private nanny, and in alternanive edu situations.....<br><br>
but i am interested in any ideas you wise women have (please)<br>

you have *way* more intestinal fortidude than I do. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
My one tip would be to make sure the bigger kids help the littler kids. It's helpful for you, and also teaches them extra. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">

Sounds like my neighbor's house.<br><br>
I'd suggest lots and lots of time playing outside. Trips to the park. A library day. And crafts- OUTSIDE crafts! Paints, etc.<br><br>
Decorate bikes & have a parade or races.<br><br>
As much outside time as possible would be good.

Have the big kids help the little kids. Personally I'd have a set activity for the day. Monday can be playdough day. Tuesday can be oobleck day. Wednesday can be puzzle day. Thursday can be bug catching day. Friday can be educational video day .etc... That way the children have freedom within the activity to explore what they want to , but you have a general idea of what to expect from the day. The biggest part of unschooling (or going without a set activity ) for *me* is not knowing what to expect from the day. I need to have <i>some</i> structure so I don't lose my wee lil mind.
