I am really and truly confused for the first time about a mothering situation. I have a 9 month old boy who was EBF for the first six months. I started introducing solids at 6 months which he still does not really like (very sensitive gag reflex) so for the most part he still is EBF. I went into my 9 month appt. very confident that his iron levels would be fine because of all of the breast milk and it came back low (9.5). I know that can go + or - 1 so best case scenario 10.5 which is still low or worse case scenerio 8.5. He also only gained 3 ounces in the last two months and his % for weight has been steadily dropping for the last 3 months. He is a really happy and seemingly energetic and 'normal' baby but I am so concerned.

So... we got prescribed iron supplements but I feel like I've read things about iron supplements and the way that babies are tested for iron that makes me question this whole iron thing. I guess that's really vague but I'd love if anyone has any information about this!
