babies don't need anything extra on their skin. a bit of cornstarch on their bum is fine if they tend to be a little rashy.
i stopped shampooing my son's hair a while back... now we just rinse it really well with water at his bath-times. he has wonderfully soft, healthy hair.
and i wouldn't recommend any sort of soap for a baby. i suppose you could add some oatmeal to their bath if they needed it (which will also soften their skin)... otherwise plain warm water and a washcloth is really all you need.
