I am doing an elimination diet that my acupuncturist put me on, and I don't know what to make. I can't have:

Dairy
Eggs
Tomatoes
Fish
Mushrooms
Onion
Garlic
Ginger
Peanuts
Citrus
Strawberries
Mango
Peppers
Spicy foods

Help - I can't think of anything to make for dinner, and I am hungry!

Ok, my tip from when we had dd on an elimination diet.

Sit down and write a list of things you CAN eat. And make sure they are things you like or at least tolerate. Then post that on your fridge. It helps you to have a more positive outlook

Oh, and maybe post the list here and you'll get some recipe ideas that way!

Thai coconut curry seasoned with salt, pepper, turmeric, cumin (that's not too spicy, is it?) and made with potatoes, broccoli, zucchini, carrots, and sauteed tofu or tempeh. Garnish with cilantro and chopped almonds. Serve over brown rice.

Looks like you'll be eating a lot of beans and rice, heh. Get some Gomasio (roasted sesame seeds) and nutritional yeast and Braggs Liquid Aminos for seasoning. Apple cider or balsamic vinegar make sauteed veggies taste good too. Soups and whole grain bread would be nice too. Avocado, cucumber sushi?

OK, don't panic! Given the food available, that's a **waaaay** short list. You can do it.

Do you eat meat at all? You can get easy protein there, if you do.

I see that soy is not on the list, so perhaps tempeh, tofu or seitan?

Zillions of lettuces, cucumber, olives, carrots, avocado, sprouts, cabbages, kales, chards, green beans, dill , cilantro, parsley, (not just a garnish-- it's loaded with so many awesome vitamins-- I eat parsely all day long. I love it. ), water cress, broccoli, cauliflower, squashes-- which include zuchinni, summer squash, pumpkin, acorn, butternut, etc etc etc. Plus yams, sweet potaotes, red bliss potatoes....omgosh, roasted with olive oil & salt, sprinkled with parsely....wow). Fruits- plums, peaches, bananas, grapes, blueberries, raspberries, rubarb (is that a fruit?)

I have to ask--- what spicy foods? And which spice?

Pasta has eggs-- but lots of commercial pasta is just oil & flour.

You can eat hummus, right? That's easy for quick nibbling. You could put it on rice crackers, or even carrots or celery, or wrapped in lettuce. It's really good that way, actually!

Sesame seeds, sunflower seeds. I think if you buy cashew or almond butters, they might have traces of peanuts in them. But what about raw, bagged whole cashews or almonds?

Rice, oatmeal, lentils, beans of all kinds.

My dh wants to go out, so I gotta go.

You can do it!

Thanks everyone - I'm going to print this out for ideas.

I think it's the no garlic, onion or tomatoes that's really stumping me!

The other problem is that I was just given the list yesterday, and decided to just start it without really planning and shopping. So I've spent the day eating almond butter and apple butter sandwiches. Can I tell you sick I am of almond butter right now? I've also had an artichoke, but that didn't do much to fill me up.

I'm thinking I'll head to the farmer's market tomorrow and stock up.

you can do a ton of things with beans and also dal is wonderful, my kids love it. you can make lentil/potato burgers which i fry with a bit of olive oil, you can make a bean dip. also, try quinoa and whole wheat couscous which are easy to make. my diet i have to admit is pretty boring, mostly fruits, veggies, legumes, occasional meat but i have come to appreciate the simple tastes over time.
