Anyone have a pickled beets recipe that doesn't use sugar? And tastes good? I have pickled the "Nourishing Traditions" way and I don't mind the taste (recipe uses whey, salt, spice and water), but it's very different and no one else in family will eat it that way. Thanks, Mary

My recipe calls for 1/2 t salt, 1 C vinegar, 1/2 C water & 1/2 C sugar OR 1/4 C honey per quart of beets. I usually either leave out the sugar or just put a sprinkle because my beets are really sweet themselves. Plus, I prefer them more tart myself.
