I have 4 mo old twins and just got my order of 1 dozen fuzzi bunz today. I was so excited about getting them and I should add that the reason I wanted to switch to cd was for environmental and for long term cost benefits and because I had heard that cd were better for a baby's bottom than disposables.

Both babies have had a bit of diaper rash but its never gotten to the point where it caused them any pain. When I went to change them for the 2nd time with the cd they were very very red and one of them even seems to have become close to scabbing. when her bottom touched the new dry cd, it left a faint bit of blood.

I feel kind of sick to my stomach because I thought this would be good for all of us and now I just feel horrible about them being in pain. The lady i bought them from suggested going slow and letting them sleep in disposables for the night so they don't sit in pee for so long.

My dh will be home from work soon and he's going to ask me why I'm putting the girls through this pain. I'm afraid I don't have a good answer.

Has anybody been through this and can you please explain or give words of encouragement that i could share with him to get us through this?

I can't recommend this enough: Charlie's Soap. It's 100% water soluble and you use only 1/8c liquid detergent per load so it's waaaaay cheaper than most detergents.

There are zero additives and we've had no issues with any kind of diaper rash since we started using it.

What's your wash routine for the pockets and inserts? I'm with PPs: sounds like it's your soap.

I'm new to the States and was using Baby Ivory in Canada but I can't find it here, so i bought Baby All and I found that it doesn't leave the clothes very soft.
The only baby detergents i've seen here are dreft and all.

You DO NOT want to use dreft or any detergents with fabric softeners in them. You need emzyme free detergent. And you only use a small amount like I use 1 Tablespoon of Little Miracled for diapers and pails. How I was is do a Cold rinse then a HOT wash with 1 Tablespoon of whatever detergent you use. Then 2 rinses. Also as far as rashes use a cloth diaper friendly rash cream. Nothing with fish oils. It will coat the diapers and make them wick. We personally use alot of Fuzzi Bunz. You can e-mail me if you have any questions
