I can't remember this stuff from ds1! Is my ds2 transitioning to one nap a day? It's 4:40pm now, ds had one long nap this morning from 9:30 to almost noon. He has always had a second nap. He's a bit tired but still going pretty fine.... should I try to hold out for a 6:30ish bedtime? (His normal bedtime is 7 or 8 sometimes).

I try to hold out until bedtime unless my dd is really exhausted and cranky. If he's doing fine, then I'd wait. Sometimes, though, dd will go down to bed an hour or so early than normal. It seems like things are always changing, what with teething, colds, growing, etc.

My 12 month old takes two still and is no where near ready for one. He sleeps like crap at night though! Up every two-four hours to eat.

My 23 month old just transitioned down to one 2 hour nap a month ago. I would have cried if it would have been that soon. Mamas need rest too.

Heh. DS1 went from one to no naps at that age! Is that why I'm crying all the time? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
Update: ds2 stayed up until 6:15, then basically took a nap.... so now he's up. I hope he'll still fall asleep at a normal bedtime! Thank you all for your input.

DS is 8.5 months, but he takes 2 a day. The people at daycare say they usually go to 1 a day around 15-18 months.

Emma takes 3 naps, but she is terrible with sleeping all around. My older dd went to one nap a day right after a year old and it was awkward for a few weeks.

My 12 month old takes only one nap a day. She's done this for months. If she's not feeling too well she'll occasionally take two. But she's a good sleeper, so I think that is why she doesn't take so many naps.

My one year old has been taking one 2 or 3 hour nap now for a couple of months. Sometimes, like if she's sick, she might take two. She sleeps a lot at night though, usually ten hours.

So, it's not crazy really - ds2 might just be a member of the transitioning-to-one-nap group! Today his morning nap didn't happen until 11am. I'm just going with it.... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: At least he's good at napping in general!

my 10.5 month old has been going on one nap for months. i wish she would take more, although that's for my own sanity more than anything else. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> sometimes getting her to take one nap is a struggle, she's just so busy and doesn't want to miss a thing.

DD takes either one long nap (for her thats an hour to two hours) or two short naps (half an hour each).. She will go to bed at 8pm and wake up at 5am.. She doesn't like sleep that much I guess.

My DD is 10.5 months and takes either 1 nap (1-2 hour nap) or 2 naps (30 - 40 minutes each). She goes to bed at different times (earlier if 1 nap, later if 2) but regardless she is still up every 2-3 hours to nurse.
