Help! This wasn't supposed to happen

I don't think!
I went in to the salon to get my legs waxed yesterday and everything seemed to be going fine. It hurt a bit but not as much as the first time and I was feeling really pampered. But when I got home and took a look at my legs I saw that there was skin peeling off in a bunch of places. Now I have these patches all over where the skin peeled off!
I've been putting calendula salve on them to help the skin heal faster but obviously I can't go out in shorts as I'm worried that getting any sun exposure will risk the skin all tanning in weird ways.
ANy ideas? Is this typical? Was there something I should have done to my skin before I went?

Ouch! That happened to me the ONE time I waxed my upper lip. Talk about embarrassing. I did the night before a big convention and makeup didn't hide my scabby mustache.
: It's been hairy ever since. LOL

To aid with healing use aloe vera, very soothing and helps it heal. Vitamin E will help with possible scarring. Staying out of the sun is a good idea. My skin is very sensitive and that is what other women told me the problem was. I followed the directions exactly with a product especially made for the face.

Why not ask the salon who did the waxing? They should have an answer for you and perhaps a refund....

Take Care,

you might want to try emu oil. i use it for all sorts of things, scrapes, puncture wounds, blemishes, eczema... it actually heals and thickens your skin and it works VERY quickly. you can read a little more about it and purchase it here. but i actually just buy mine at the health food store. i always have a couple bottles in the house, i love it so much! HTH!

I am sorry to hear of your bad waxing experience.

I just had my legs waxed for the first time, and it hurt like heck! I have had my eyebrows and arms (yes, arms. I am of the hairy arm persuasion
) waxed regularly over the past few years, and nothing matched this pain. I should mention, I had it done at a nail salon type place (I was treating myself to a pedicure the same day).

A few days ago, a friend of mine (who is also an aesthetician) returned from Europe and I told her my woes... She asked me re:the waxer's procedure. It turns out, that my friend was trained differently. She told me that when you get your legs waxed, they are supposed to #1) spray your legs with antiseptic first (I assume like a seabreeze product or rubbing alcohol?), and then #2) sprinkle baby powder on the legs. She said the baby powdre prevents the wax from adhering to the skin... so it is only pulling out your hair, and not pulling off layers of your skin. Maybe this was the problem?

Sorry this went on sooo long. Just thought it might be helpful. I know that I am definitely not going back to the same place to get my legs done again... I am going straight to my baby powder yielding friend! Plus... it'll probably save me a couple bucks too!

Good luck! HTH!

What happend to you was definately the estheticians error. I'd call them as ask for your money back.
