My partner did a dumb thing. She has a topical allergy to citric acid and usually takes off all jewelry and washes well when she's juicing limes for work. A couple weeks ago, she didn't and has a terrible burn around one finger where her ring was. She's continually reinjuring it at work since she keeps juicing lots of limes and oranges. A doctor gave her the casual advice that she could use a steroid cream that we have on hand for dd's eczema, even on an open wound.

Fast forward to last night...she got out the heavy duty steroid cream since the mild one wasn't doing anything. Then she starts screaming in pain. This whole experience alerted me to hat she's been doing and now I know that her burn has been getting marginally bigger (it's still below the finger joint). It looks about the same...no pus or raw meat look or anything.

The internet is full of contradictory advice. What do you guys know???

Does she need to immediately get to an ER for skin grafts, a tetanus shot, and antibiotics or risk losing her finger (I hate the internet)? Or can we use honey? Does she need to get ahold of antibiotics if possible? Is there a homeopathic or natural way to treat burns that are not healing? she doesn't have insurance, and can't stop doing her job, so...

Did it blister? Does it look red like something that's infected would look like? If so I would say she needs to contact a doctor and have it seen and get an antibiotic cream or some type of medication to put on it. I know it's going to cost $ and believe me, I know that's not the easiest thing to come up with.. I don't have any or insurance, so I understand. I'm also not someone who is into lots of homeopathic, natural things so I don't have that advice to give. She could try aloe which is a natural treatment for burns and she should keep her jewelry off and the burn covered until it heals.
