hi ladies I have read lots of ways to turn my op positioned baby and I
can tell you I pretty much have been on hands and knees for 4 days now
and I do not think this baby has budged. On an earlier post some had
a tip from a doula to get on hands and knees and put cold on your back
and heat on your front has anyone had luck with this? The baby is
susposed to turn towards the heat and move away from the cold. My
question is if they turn towards the heat on the belly would they not
stay in the op position because they would be facing the heat, or do
they prefer the heat on there back? I'm a bit confused but it could
be pregnancy brain. Can someone clarify this for me. I really want
this baby to turn. thank you so much

You can also try rubbing your belly in the direction you want the baby to turn. and remember, your baby may well just turn when she's ready!

I saw a chiro and he did the... I think it's called the Webster Technique? Basically I had to lie flat on my back and he put one hand under my sacrum area and I would just lay there. At first it was excrutiating and I could only do it for like 30 seconds, but after a few times I could do it until the docs hand got numb

Also, recently I had a client go into labor with a posterior baby. She rocked on a birthing ball, and sat on the toilet for a long time. When she was ready to push, I was holding her up in a supported squat position with her dh on the other side, and I expected to see a face pop out. NOPE. The baby had turned and came out LOA. Babies can and do turn during labor.

I am a believer in visualization. First, there is a reason your baby is posterior? Do you understand why this might be the case? How do you rest between activities? What is your body posture? What are your couches like? What are the seats in your car like? All of those things can have an affect. Why, why, why are you wanting to turn the baby? There may be a really good reason he/she wants to stay there? As a doula, I've been with a few mom's who delivered posterior babes, without the "trauma" some people advise will happen with posteriors. I would ask you to visualize your baby turning to the "favorable" position, while doing the other suggestions you'll be hearing about, and if he/she doesn't turn, then visualize the beautiful, positive, painless birth you'll have... (and it's all possible without medication!)

Peace,

Well, I turned my first baby, but I've never heard of anyone doing it the way I did, so take it with that grain.... She kept moving posterior the last few weeks despite my good posture and all-4's and pelvic rocks -- couldn't seem to prevent it, or change it. When I started early labor and she was posterior, I was DETERMINED to move her. So I laid on my side and found her butt, which was toward my side/back and kind of massaged/pushed it to the left-front. It took about 15-20 minutes and I was firm but didn't "force" anything. I figured if she completely resisted it, there was some reason she was OP and I'd leave it alone. But she went, no problem. And as soon as I got her LOA, active labor kicked in.

Mine was posterior from about 33 weeks until the day before she was born. I swam almost every day, crawled around, visualized, did acupuncture, hot/cold packs, negotiated with and begged her, tried massaging and gently pushing her... then just gave up and started preparing for a posterior baby (decided she had her reasons for coosing that position).

She turned on her own the day before she was born, my water broke that night and labour started the next morning.

She did have a hand up beside her face and a nuchal cord- they may have been part of why she was posterior???
