I feel bad starting yet another thread.
: Just let me say that I really, truly appreciate all of the advice you ladies give me and honestly, I feel like I should be paying you for it.
So, I don't know if you remember the incessant barking issue from a few months ago. He has been much better w/my corrections (and my bitch's...man, that girl is a help! She knows what bugs me and corrects him for that on top of what bugs her!
). The whining though, it has not improved much. I read in a book they are not aware they are whining and it can help to immitate them? He is *very* vocal and always has been. It's cute sometimes, it almost sounds like he's talking. Not sure if this is a GS Pointer thing or what (he even snores at night
: ). Anyway, the whining is whenever he wants something, especially me (he's very attached) or apparently, whenever he feels like it.
The stuff that worked for his barking is just not seeming to have an effect on his whining. All his training is going well otherwise. It's been a little more intensive since he knows he's turning four months old in a few days.
You should see the look on his face these days though when he realizes he's never going to be given any slack, ever. It's pathetic.
I'm scared you're all going to tell me that some dogs just whine their whole lives. I did see a purebred adult GS Pointer for adoption one day who was whinning his
off.
