Our newborn weighed over 10 pounds at birth, ALL those cute little newborn diapers I bought were TOO SMALL at birth, fort. I had some smalls too, so I have been using Sandys with a preemie prefold inside, with a fuzzibun cover. BUT, my sons as* looks bigger than HE is, it's HUGE, and when he is laying on my bed his head is lower than his legs, I don't know whether to cry or laugh! (no really, we have been totally laughing, but I want to see if there is another cover that is low maintence (ie NO wool) and will fit over these huge diapers). Anyone??? The one size fits all just look ridiculous on this little babe, so I am finding using the Sandys with a prefold and cover OR using a prefold and doubler in a Prorap is working the best so far, ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?????? COVERS?????????????

Thanks so much from this new to CDing mom, and her big-butt son Eli.

Wow, for a newborn he must be a heavy wetter to need all that absorbency! When dd was a newborn we just used the newborn size prefolds with a bummis or bumkins wrap- also with a snappi even tho they were velcro wraps- we found it held the explosions in better with a snappi.
Hmm... let's see... we also used the motherease airflow size small, but that was kinda huge lookin'...
No matter what we put on her we were changing her constantly...
HTH somehow!

Well my favorite combo for a newborn that's not wool is a Bummis super whisper wrap and a infant 4*8*4 Chinese prefold either trifolded and layed in the wrap or snappied. Bummis are cut quite generously and cover fitteds and prefolds really well. I've heard that bumkins don't work well with fitteds but are great trim option with prefolds layed in them.

Well, my ds was born in July and weighed 10lbs 6oz so I know where you're coming from!
The covers I really liked in the beginning (and still like) are Bumpy's. They fit wonderfully well over both prefolds and fitteds and are very soft and trim. As for absorbancy, since my ds is a super-ultra heavy wetter, anything with hemp works a THOUSAND times better. (Even if you just use hemp prefolds...)

Congrats and I HTH!

OK, maybe I'm confused, but do I understand that you are putting the Sandy on with a FB over the top?

The FB really isn't meant to be a cover, though I guess it would work. You might find it trimmer to stuff the FB with the prefold and use that alone. Or just use the Sandy without the prefold inside and a PUL cover over the top -- a Bummi wrap, for example.

i haven't read ahead so forgive me if this is a duplicate...at about 10lbs i believe our favorites were lukes drawers hugs (folded down a bit in front) w/ the bsww in small over it...we also used size small mommymade and size med (they must fit chunky babies small?) cloud 9's fitteds w/ the bsww...congrats on your new addition - i love his name!

If you are using premium size I would use bummis whisper pants- because I have size M prowraps and the only way to get them to work is to fold the dipe and lay it in ther but the n the elastic around the legs goes up and gets wet- it is not a pretty thing. And the size prem. most likely will not work with a size M propwrap- for the bummis I would get a size M it will be big but the size S will not cover a PF that big- I have almost given up on my UBCPFs and gone 85% fitted- soon to be 100% as soon as I can get more dipes made- I just cant stand the HUGE butt- I mean I dont mind a big booty but when the dipe sags to her kneens I say somthing is a bit much! And just a tip- at least with the fitted I make I can use a small bummis whisper pants and they still fit!
