Hi! Well, I was ttc through the summer...and took this past month off due to travel plans that are important to my family in 9months. But AF was due this morning and when it wasn't here I tested...I got a

I'm thrilled of course, even if it means a change of plans. I'm just not clear on how we managed it. I never read the chapter in TCOYF on avoiding but after months of trying without success it seemed easy enough to make it through a month or two.:

Anyway, I had a temp spike on Wed. Oct 25th. I assume I O'd. I have a lot of cm all month so this is always difficult for me to associate with O. Anyway, we bd'd on Sun Oct 22...and then again on Fri. Oct 27th. Is there anyway for me to know (or make a guess) which time we conceived?? Is it more likely to conceive 3 days before O or 2 days after??? Or is there just no way to know?

Thanks!

I'm no expert, but it is my understanding that an egg lives from 12 to 24 hours. It is also my understanding that sperm can live up to 7 days, 3-5 days being more common. With that, I would think the 22nd was your lucky day. Grats on your BFP!

Conception is the point when the sperm meets and fertilized the egg. You can't do that without the egg! The egg typically only lives 12-24 hours (and from what I've read it's more like 6-12 hours in most cases) so it couldn't be from the bding on the 27th. It must have been from the 22nd...BUT...conception would be the date you o'd, the 25th, as that would be when the sperm would have finally met the egg.

I don't know how regular you are but since you know your ovulation date make sure to use that to calculate your due date (fertility friend has a due date calculator based on o date...if you don't have an account I'd be happy to plug the numbers for you).
