<p>She's factoring polynomials.</p>

<p>when we did X to the 4th - 9 we got (X squared + 3)(x squared + 3)</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Here's the one we're stuck on....</p>
<p>-16 + a to the 12th</p>
<p> </p>
<p>PLEASE HELP!!!</p>

<p>and if you keep going</p>
<p> </p>
<p>(a^3-2)(a^3+2)(a^6+4)</p>
<p> </p>
<p>For the examples you're giving, where you're factoring a^b-c and b is even, your answer is (a^(b/2)+sqrt(c))(a^(b/2)-sqrt(c))</p>

<p>Thank you VERY much.  Now that I see the anser it makes total sense and I can show her how to do it.  I can usually figure it out with the examples they give, but sometimes the way I was taught to do things conflicts with how she was taught and I just end up confusing her.</p>
