Help! I do not want to immunize my daughter any more than I have to. I have a 4 y/o son with Autism and I have stopped immunizing him and only do titers to prove immunity to the school district. My 2 1/2 year old is starting preschool in september and they want her immunization schedule. She has only had the DTAP and polio.....nothing else. I wouldnt have done the DTAP had I know what was in it. Thanks....Any help would be appreciated.

Donna

Also, I have an older son who will be 7, he is "normal" in a Catholic School, how do I get around immunizing him any further? Can I use a religious exemption?

CF - got your PM

New Jersey exemption laws require an explanation of your religious beliefs. I have letters specifically for New Jersey and will PM you a letter.

Keep in mind though that private schools can (and do) reject religious exemptions. It's not common however. I just want you to be prepared just in case.

You can use the letter I sent you for each child.

I have exemptions for my children and never had a problem. It is your Moral right not to vaccinate. I'll send you the info.

I'm wondering if you could also get a medical exemption from you Ped. being your son has autism? Good luck. I just had a argument with my sister about the DPT shot. My children all got whooping cough this summer, she is so mad at me for not vaccinating. They came out of it great no ill effects, wasn't as bad as people make it seem. I'd rather them had that then something else later from the vaccine and not they have a life time immunity.

If you find a ped that will write a med exempt for autism, post their name! And I would make sure the ped writes that they are "unable to endure vaccination for medical reasons" vs. "because of autism" because the district could challenge it... kwim?

My aunt sent my cousin to catholic school in NJ (she's a senior this year) and dummied up records.
I was shocked (because to know her, you could NEVER imagine her doing such a thing), but she couldn't use the religious exemption because she was Catholic and sending to a Catholic school. I realize there are many Catholics that reject vax based on their some vax contents being derived from cells of aborted fetuses; but the Vatican issued a paper that made it clear that it was a choice.

I know a NJ Doctor who wrote a medical exemption due to autism. This was done for a friend of mine and was just a BADDDD idea-albeit she claims it was accepted by some schools. Her school had a ball with it! She finally had to get a lawyer and a religious exemption. The gov't and all "respected" (ha!) medical associations say there is NO LINK or risk regarding vaxes and autism. It is not a LEGALLY VALID medically exempt reason not to vax!

I submit a religious exemption, never an issue-even in Headstart.

You can use a religious exemption for Catholic schools in New Jersey (depends on the school though), but you cannot exempt only the vaccines which contain aborted fetal cells. New Jersey law requires the parent to be opposed to the "administration" of immunization, the aborted fetal cell ingredients wouldn't be an issue.

Also, even if the Vatican called for an all-out "boycott" of the aborted fetal cell-containing vaccines . . . it wouldn't fly with New Jersey b/c the law is the law. You must be opposed to the administration of immunizations - that means you must claim you are opposed to all vaccines in order to obtain an exemption. It makes no difference what the Vatican says b/c if you are opposed to the administration of immunizations, the ingredients technically don't matter.

A NJ parent on another vax board had his child's exemption rejected b/c he used the aborted fetal cell reasoning to exempt his child from NJ immunization requirements. They immediately rejected his exemption. Never use aborted fetal cell reasoning in NJ or NY. In New York it's the same thing - you must be opposed to the "practice" of immunization.

It is customary to involve a lawyer?

Thanks!
You do not need an attorney to write an exemption letter. If your letter was challenged/rejected, then a consultation with an attorney would be wise, but not to write the letter. There is at least one attorney in NY using parents' fears in order to make money. Don't waste your time or money.

I got your PM and we'll talk about your letter.

Come on over to the vax board!

There are at least two NY threads active right now and you can create a thread too.

We may be moving to NJ, and we don't vax.....if anyone wouldn't mind sharing an example of a religious exemption letter via PM, I'd greatly appreciate it! Here in MD, all I've had to do so far for daycare and private preschool is sign on the dotted line on the vax form that vax is against our religious beliefs.
