hi, new here
i had a question to ask you all...
hemp fabric that's jersey on one side, fleece on the other--what can be made with this fabric? inserts for pockets? if so, how many layers would u need to lay on top of one another to make it absorbent enough? would it be absorbent at all? any tips?
would 4x8 feet be long enough to make anything with?

if not, what else could be made? i'm a beginner as if u couldnt tell

I think what you're talking about is hemp fleece which is actually a hemp/cotton blend. The jersey you're talking about is the knit side of the fleece.

I don't like the fluffy side (personal preference) b/c it leaves lint all over my fleece and other diapers.

I like to make doublers or soakers for diapers from this. 4 x 8 feet is a nice size BTW. You wouldn't want to go more than 3 layers (if you're talking about what I think you're talking about). B/c it gets really tough to really dry more than 3 layers.

If you need more absorbancy, consider using 2 inserts of 2 or 3 layers each. If you're doing fitted diapers, consider doing an external soaker or doubler.

I don't really know how many - you'd need to wash & dry it first to get it to shrink up so it doesn't shrink after you sew it. You could do the math to figure it out and then take out 15% or so for shrinkage/scraps. I know you would get ALOT of them just not sure how many.

Soakers are the absorbent parts of a diaper (AIO or fitted diaper) that are sewn into the diaper. Doublers are normally placed on top of the inner part of the diaper (to go against a baby's skin) to add extra absorbency) - and inserts are the thingy's that you put in a pocket diaper.

I prefer hemp terry. The terry side is not very soft before washing, but does soften up a bit. I just make them with the jersey side facing out. The terry doesn't pill/lint as much as the HF.
