OMG!! I had no idea how wonderful hemp diapers were!!!

Had I known, I would have bought yards and yards of hemp from the beginning instead of UBCPFs... :
Though I liked my ubcpfs, I was just not having luck with a night time system - after 7 hours, the premium cpf and infant pf doubler were soaked!!

So after I read some of the posts here I decided to get some hemp. I bought some hemp/cotton fleece for 8.20 (incl shipping) at FabricConnection (Thanks Jessica ) and made 2 diapers + two 4 layer doublers + one 2 layer doubler. I did not sew the doubler between the two layers of the diapers so that they would dry fast.

So, last night my baby went to bed wearing 6 layers of hemp and for my surprise it did not look bulky AT ALLl!!!!! All the layers looked less bulky than a premium UPCFS (which I did not find bulky to beginwithanyways...) And best of all, my son's diaper was NOT soaked through after 9 hours of sleep!!

And I tried the hemp diaper on my baby wihout the doubler, and it is trimmer than a DD!!

Well, I don't have the money to switch to all hemp now that I have a whole stach of ubcpfs, so I am going to at least have my baby wear them overnight .

On a side note: Do you guys think if it is possible for me to sell 1-month old UBCPs without losing so much money?? Just a thought

Well, the problem you'll have selling the ubcpfs is the shipping- they are heavy and so you'll need to charge a chunk of change for that. These should sell- the unbleached seem to be in demand.

I like hemp for its absorbency, but have had two issues with it over time 1) it retains odors and needs special treatment unlike cpfs that get clean easily 2)it stiffens up. Still, it is so absorbent, there is nothing else I can use for nighttime either!

I guess I will be keeping my UPCFs then, and have the hemp stuff I already made for overnight use.
I don't have so much experience with hemp, but I agree with you that though CPFs are not nearly as absorbent as hemp, they are SOOOO easy to wash and get softer with every wash....
