Hi all,

I hate to be here instead of with my due date club, but I went for my first ultrasound today at 9 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I watched them measure the fetus and sack, but there was no movement. I had an early m/c last March, a blighted ovum, I think - so I visited this board then, but didn't expect to be back here again.

With there being a more well-formed fetus this time around, I'm really scared of how the m/c is going to play out. I've been reading all the m/c stories, which made me feel better last time, but now they're making me scared and sick to my stomach. Anyway... now I play the waiting game. I was wondering if anyone knows of any herbal remedies that can induce a m/c? I'm really hoping I don't have to wait for weeks and weeks. I've been sick with m/s, bronchitis, and exhaustion from the pregnancy and I'm really ready to start feeling better.

Also, I still feel like I have pg symptoms even though the baby's not alive. Is this possible?

Thanks for listening!

alice,
i'm so sorry to read about your baby.

i was sacred too. we found out no h/b at 11wks. i had read the sticky here too, and some of the experiences made me dread what was to come even more, but some helped me.

i just wanted to try and give you some support- most of the time, your body, nature, really, will do what has to be done to heal, in a timely way, and you will come through it in the end. the physical aspect of miscarrying was the hardest part for me, because i was so afraid.
but, like birth, somehow it happens, and then it is over.

i don't know of any herbal ways of moving things along, but what i did do was drink a lot of red raspberry leaf tea after my miscarriage was complete, to heal and strengthen my uterus. and i drank a lot of water.

i am so sorry for what is happening. if you want to talk, you can pm me.

I'm so sorry.

I lost my last pregnancy. At my 12wk visit there was no heartbeat & u/s confirmed that the baby had stopped developing at 7wks. I had no clue--no cramping, no spotting, nothing. I was nauseous, exhausted, the works. I've had 2 successful pregnancies. The one I lost felt pretty much the same as the ones I carried to term.

I had a very hard time finding information about natural miscarriage.

Eventually I was referred to a midwife in a distant city who has done her own research on miscarriage. She explained that the placenta helps out with hormone production and can actually carry a pregnancy for several weeks after the baby has died. She said that most of the time the miscarriage will complete on it's own by 12-14wks, when the placenta's hormone production slows.

She also said that the normal uterine tonics (rrl, nettle, etc) are great, but she didn't recommend additional herbs because the mild ones with few side effects tend not to work until the body is ready, and the stronger herbs can be toxic and shouldn't be used without an herbalist's supervision.

My miscarriage finally completed at 13wks.
