Are there any stores in Houston that carry a large selection of bulk (cut leaf or powdered) herbs? I went to Sandy's on I-10 once, but the selection of medicinal herbs was very small. In Utah our health food stores and herb shops have shelves or walls of medicinal herbs in bags ranging from 2 oz. to 1 lb. I didn't ever see this in Houston, though I'm notorious for missing stuff that's right in front of my face!

Yeah, I can definitely order off the internet. It's just neat to go in and actually see and smell everything!

'A Moveable Feast' on I-10 has a wall of herbs..they have a pretty good selection, been getting rrl, nettle, alfalfa and oatstraw there along with some others for my husb. If they are out of an herb they get more in that week it seems like. I-10 near Echo lane/ Bunker Hill on the eastbound feeder. I think there's a Kroger in that plaza and (I think) Walgreens and Loehmann's. Its tucked behind (Loehmann's?) so you can't see it until you drive right up to the door. They have a good little cafe/resaurant too..they should get better advertising IMO.

How about Central Market? Not sure how much they have in medicinal herbs, but I know you can get culinary herbs/spices in bulk. Very nice when your DH wants to cook a dish that needs a half-teaspoon of an expensive ingredient!

Central Market is a fabulous store and worth the trip, one way or another! But their employees are also well educated, so you might try calling to inquire.

I don't recall seeing any bulk medicinal herbs at Central Market at all. It's been at least 18 months since I was there, but I was quite disappointed with their health section. I figured for such a huge store, they would have a very comprehensive selection.
