Hello there! My name is Laura and I am fixing to join you ladies!!! Hubby is enlisiting in the Marines in late November (just waiting for that last 15 lbs to fall off!) and we are going to TTC in December. I have really been wanting another baby since my son turned 6 months old (no, not crazy!). I want a couple of more kiddos before I turn 30 and the clock is counting down now! I will be 28 in December. The only problem there is that it took about 4 years or so to conceive my son and I am really worried that ovulation that time was a fluke. Does anyone have any experience with depo? That is what caused my body to become infertile for so long. I was on it for 2 1/2 years, then off and it took another 2 years to conceive (I was not having normal cycles prior to conceiving). I actually had to have an ultrasound to determine my due date because when I got preggo, I hadn't had AF for 4 years. I have been having pretty normal (within a week of the due date) since my AF returned at 7 wks PP. I began relactation at 9 weeks and only bf part time, so I am pretty sure that my "fertility" has returned. Is there anything that I should be doing to prepare my body for this new baby? Hubby won't be leaving for basic until about the end of February, so that gives me Dec, Jan and Feb to try (not much but here's to hoping!) Does anyone know the odds on whether or not my infertilty will return??? Thanks all, for the advice and encouragment, in advance!!!

Hi Laura ,

I can't tell you the "odds", but I can reccommend a method and a book that will let you know whether or not you are currently fertile.

The method is natural family planning. By taking your temperature each morning, watching your cervical fluid and (not necessary but helpful) checking your cervical position, you will know if/when you are ovulating, when you should time bding and if your body is giving your eggs time to implant.

A truly WONDERFUL book that explains this method (how to do it, and how it works with very clear explanations and even photos) is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's available at book stores and many public libraries carry it.

Another good (free) resource is www.fertilityfriend.com. You can ask questions, create charts and get the fertility friend experts' opinions on your chart.

And of course, the women here at MDC's TTC board are the best!

Best wishes for a short journey to conception and a beautiful baby!

Brandi

I was *just thinking of you today!!!!! :hi I am using ff and an mdc mama is sending me tcoyf. Since ur still bfing I won't recommend false unicorn or detoxing. I would think ur still taking prenatals since ur! Watch your diet; but, I would think that since ur still bfing u do that! Of course, I had those things on *my list, including other things; but, well.....:LOL that baby fever is *fierce! I was on The Pill for 3 years and then off and on before that, and it took us 13 mos to conceive Jordan. Not comparable to the time it took you, (I'm a whimp with needles! Depo *wasn't happenin); but, I know how that hormonal bc does a number on your fertility! :

Here are some things that are supposed to boost fertility and address hormone imbalances:

Red Clover
Red Raspberry leaf
Nettles

All of the above can be bought as loose herbs and made into a tea that I find pleasant. You can use them singly or mix them. They're also high in nutrients.

Some folks attribute some forms of infertility to inadequate nutrition, so improving your diet can help your body get back in balance if you are not eating well now.

Also Vitex (chaste berry tree) can be purchased as a tincture or pills. My Dr. gave it to me for a short luteal phase problem, I've done some more reading and discovered it can be taken as a general balancer, and some women feel that it has helped them ovulate.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks so much ladies. I am already getting so excited at the prospect of having another baby. I loved being pregnant, both times, and am on the edge of my seat, counting the days, until December!!!!!
