famous - a little sent me to this post - ah , thanks.

I'll be around to stir up the pot a bit with regards to cloth diapering. And I have a new agenda to always look for the newbie posts FIRST now that I am able to take a break from the task of moderating, there will be a bit more time.

I could never leave indefinitely. MDC is a huge part of my life - just love the mommas here.

COMING SOON: PAPC (Personal Absorbent Products Council) together with Contemporary Pediatrics has published "Disposable diapers: effective and safe." Yes, you can bet I have some 'responses' for their experts' opinions!

Here's a snippet from one of the doctors involved:

"In this special supplement, three pediatric dermatologists and a practicing pediatrician share their experience and expertise on modern diaper technology. In a roundtable discussion led by Mary Spraker, MD, Associate Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine, they elucidate its role in preventing dermatitis, reducing disease transmission, and promoting skin health in infants. Safety issues, testing of the superabsorbent core material, and environmental impact are also addressed."

ADDRESSED? Heck NO - they don't even give sources. They just have a 'doctor' spew his/her knowledge and we are supposed to accept it as gold. And really, a roundtable discussion with all those 'in favor,' but none 'opposing,' - the 'value' of this discussion is more pep rally style than an actual 'let's get to the truth.' But then IT IS FUNDED by a council of those associated with the industry of SUPERABSORBENT CORE MATERIALS. Grrrr . . . got my goat last night when I was researching. Had to print out the whole report so I could attack it with my highlighter.

We ya, Heather! Glad you will still be around.

Now, about this report... there is actually a "Personal Absorbent Products Council"?? :LOL WTH??

Where was this published? In a medical journal? That is so irresponsible for a supposedly scientific publication to give print space to such an obviously biased "discussion" (no, it's not *even* a study!)

Medical Journal :LOL Woohoo . . . that's a funny one!

Nope, this was developed and produced by Contemporary Pediatrics and sponsored by an educational grant from Personal Absorbent Products Council

You can download the 20 some-odd pages as a pdf file here.

Oh, and YES, there is actually a Personal Absorbent Products Council - and they have their own website (for your viewing pleasure) - papc.org. And if you want to be convinced that superabsorbent chemicals are, in *ahem* 'fact' SAFE for you baby allow them to try and get you on their side here.

Gets my goat.
