Hi mamas -

I got some blood levels done at 4w4d pregnant (possibly 5w if I O'ed earlier). My progesterone was 72.4, which is bloody high! Anyone know what this means? Have you had high progesterone?

My beta hcg was 891. They also did fasting insulin and glucose, which were apparently good (67 and 5.1, respectively). I have PCOS and am off meds, which is why they did those.

The progesterone is weirding me out. Any info or ideas, or what happened with you, are much appreciated!

Okay, well I'm reading that high progesterone levels are generally a good thing, so that is comforting. It can in rare cases be a sign of molar pregnancy, or somewhat more frequently it can indicate multiples.

I better not have multiples, I couldn't handle it. Although obsessing on that is a lot less upsetting than obsessing on whether the pregnancy is viable! Ah, the joys of the first trimester.

Congratulations! Yes, higher progesterone levels are usually a good thing (not sure about the indication of molar pregnancies at all)! Just don't be surprised if you get more morning sickness as a result because that is often caused by higher progesterone levels.

When I did an IVF last year to conceive my son I was on supplemental progesterone and it caused my level to go to 98 during the first few weeks...I wouldn't worry...that is a high beta too, maybe you are having twins!
