It's sad that the numbers of those who continue to BF 6 months and beyond are still so low. The U.S. has got to get in line with WHO recommendations.

this is not at all surprising. I know a lot of women ( myself included) were pressured to wean their babies because "No one nurses this long". Dh is not all that supportive of Bfing in general, NIP in particular and extended nursing not at all. And he's one of the most encouraging dhs I've met. Many men here forbid bfing or shame their wives for trying, or just have no understanding of the benefits.
