What do you like to receive in your baked holiday baskets?

I'm making:

My great great grandma's fudge
Peach bread
Thumbprint cookies
White chocolate covered pretzels
and for some baskets, Lactation cookies!

Anything I'm missing?

That sounds delicious, Mrs.

I put reindeer poop in mine.

You basically melt dark or milk chocolate and mix in sweetened (or un) coconut into it, and let it dry in glops on wax paper.

Then I add in a card

Quote:

You've been bad, so here's the scoop--all you get is reindeer poop!

Yummy and cute.

You can make snowman poop too, using white melting chocolate in place of the regular chocolate.

My aunt used to make these things called candle cakes. They're cylindrical cakes with a white glaze on top and a half cherry so they look like candles.

I also love squash bread with raisins.

Am I missing something here? What do you mix in? Sweetened (or un) what? Reindeer poop sounds like an awesome gift that I would love to give!

Also, the candle cakes sound really cool, I would love the recipe if you know it. Then again, with a couple (or few) tries I bet we could improv something close!

D'oh! Sweetened or unsweetened coconut!!

I'm making a set of turds for my babci (grandmother) this year at her request with nuts and raisens, so you can definitely alter the "recipe".

They're so easy, and you literally plop them onto the wax paper to harden and they look very....authentic. The coconut resembles the straw, I guess. And totally mailable, if you live far away from people.

Wednesday I'm having friends over to make candy and have kids decorate gingerbread houses. The candy? Cappucina Caramel Pecan Truffles. They are SOOOO good and take so long I only make them once a year.

I wanted to make some baked goodies to include with my holiday packages. What all is good for shipping, other than reindeer poop?

I don't ship anything, but I think my spiced almonds/pecans and caramel popcorn would hold up well. Oh, brownies and fudge, too.

I am only going to a cookie party this year and not giving out other baked goodies. We just moved here and really don't know anyone any way. So I am going to make holly cookies. The are so cute!! It's basically a lemony sugar cookie cut out into holly leaves then glazed with a yolk wash with green food coloring. Then "glue" dried cranberries in the appropriate place.

This year, I'm making ginger snaps, snickerdoodles, peanutbutter blossoms and sugar cookies. For the Village Christmas dessert, I'm making chocolate cheesecake cupcakes with holiday sprinkles.

The ginger snaps and snickerdoodles ship beautifully.
