My cat is having a vaccine reaction. He had shots yesterday and has lost massive amounts of fur since then. It's really unbelievable. His whole flank is bald and he's clearly distressed. We need a holistic vet from here on out, because this vet already discounted the possibility of vaccine reactions in animals. I don't know where to start.

Dr. Karen Fine does <i>some</i> holistic work with animals, like acupuncture, etc.<br>
However, she is on maternity leave currently and I'm really not sure if she's accepting any new patients. (She is a home vet)<br>
Sorry to hear about your furry friend. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/cat.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="cat">:

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I go to New England Vet. Clinic in Salem. My cat had a distemper booster this week and the vet stressed that he doesn't like to give boosters more often than every three years because cats are particularly sensitive to vaccine reactions.

He may be too far from you, but I used to take my rabbit to Dr. Mark Restey at Lichtenberg Veterinary Hospital in Pelham (I drove 2 hours to get to him b/c I thought he was that good - my bun had cronic health problems & he was very open to alternative treeatments). I'm actually not even sure if he still practices there, but it might be worth a call.<br><br>

You also might want to check out the <a href="http://www.ahvma.org/" target="_blank">American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association</a>. They have a search feature by state.<br><br><span><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">=================<br>

I just moved here from Portland Oregon, where I worked in a holistic vet clinic. My vet there recommended that I see this person:<br><br><br>

because he knows her and she does a lot of veterinary homeopathy. You can always go to the AVHMA website and search for a holistic vet closer to you if this practice is too far (<a href="http://www.ahvma.org" target="_blank">www.ahvma.org</a>)<br><br>
Also- you might want to try homeopathic Thuja (in 30C or 200C potency)- as it is the first remedy to go to for adverse reactions from vaccines. The vet I used to work for actually would give a dose of it in 30C potency after every vaccine given just to prevent any adverse outcomes. Good luck!

I have a few friends that bring their animals to <a href="http://www.iahcbolton.com/" target="_blank">http://www.iahcbolton.com/</a> but I've never been there personally. Hoping your cat starts feeling better soon.

The two in Hopkinton and Bolton are the only two I know about. Both, by the way, are less than a mile from 495.
