Holy Swelling, Batman!

My DS, who turned 5 last week, got out of the shower this morning and his foreskin was swollen. I've heard many claim that the foreskin, being such thin, stretchy and sensitive tissue, can swell up just like the lips, but I'd never actually seen it. Well, talk about swelling! He just thought it was funny :LOL , and I really wasn't too concerned either as it didn't look red or inflamed in any way...just REALLY puffy. About three times the normal size.

Anyway, this evening he joined his sister in the tub, and as he was getting out, I noticed that it was completely back to normal.

I chock it up to a little over-aggressive handling

Could it have been allergy? once in awhile, my fingertips get swollen from a reaction.

Still not anything to worry about, just a thought.

I can't think of anything that could have caused an allergic reaction. I honestly think it was "trauma" induced. Or perhaps one of those mysterious "separation" episodes. He is not yet retractible, but I was pretty sure the foreskin was completely separated (you can kinda "tell" when it is...the skin is much more slack). Perhaps there was still a little to go?

Anyway, the point to my post was more to inform than anything. It's amazing what the foreskin is capable of...including swelling!

Thanks Cindy. My ds has a little over a year to go b4 he is 5, but the more info the better. "A little too much handling." ROFL!
