Hi,
My husband and I will be ttc in a year or so and are planning a homebirth. Who would you reccomend? What was your experience like? Did your insurance cover the homebirth? If not how much did it cost? Did any of you have a vbac? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I am 9 weeks pregnant and planning a home vbac. I'm seeing Lisa Lehrer. I really like her

She has 20 years experience and has alot of confidence in my ability to have a great home birth.

I know there are others in town, so I'm sure you will get other replies!

As far as I know, Lisa is the only mw living in Corvallis that does homebirths.

There is a mw that lives here in Salem (where I live) that does births with a mw that lives in Alpine in Corvallis. (is that confusing enough for you??)

There is also a mw that lives in Jefferson - or Albany, I'm not sure - that does births in Corvallis.

I do births in Corvallis, too, though I usually have people come to my office in Salem for appts. (here's my website: http://www.midwifemama.com)

I had a homebirth in Corvallis with a midwife who lives in Bellfountain. Jane Poznar and Betty Griffith. At the time, only Betty was licensed, but I believe Jane is licensed now.

And they do VBACs, as far as I still know.

I won't, but only because the booth is run by a former mw and a former midwifery teacher and not general Oregon midwives. In fact, we (the statewide organization) requested a booth from the OCF folks and were told that we couldn't have one because there was already a midwife booth. Anyway, she has some good info and usually has a listing of mws all over the state. It's just not a general midwifery booth, but one for her (which I assume she keeps because having a booth/working at the fair is so much fun!).

My dh works at the fair every year and I've been thinking about going with him, though I'm on call and it's always touchy to be way out there, dirty and with iffy cell service.
