Are you looking for homebirth info to convince him or the names of local midwives? You can pm me about the different midwifes or contact the indiana midwives association. All of the certified midwives in indiana are members. People probably will be hesitant to name their midwife online because they aren't legally alloud to practice in indiana. That being said there are some really great ones here and I just had my first at home with my favorite one in april.

Avarie,
First, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I just had my first/only homebirth in December and LOVED doing a hb and working with midwives! (Especially after the hospital births of my 2 sons previously.)

You might want to join the Homebirth Support Network yahoo group:

Aside from the info. available online (including midwife information) which you may access -- there's a once a month meeting at the College Ave. Branch Library.

There are midwives here in central indiana, both CNM and non-CNM (DEM and CPM), but they aren't always easy to find. We are very protective of our wonderful midwives...

Well, I'd like some info to give to DH like statistics and all that, if they're available. Frankly, I don't need any more info that to know that I was born at home and turned out OK. (Just kidding!)

He's a little concerned because Spencer's 1 minute apgar was a 4 (purple, floppy, non-responsive), they gave him oxygen from the little breathing tube thingy, and he didn't seem to "perk up" until he got his vitamin K shot. Plus, they were thisclose to sending him to the NICU later on that day because his respiration rate wasn't very good. Also, I had some mild PPH (less than 500ccs) and that freaked him out a bit. So he would need to feel secure that a HB MW would be able to handle those things as well. That's all.

Our other option would be the birth center on 38th Street. Although I honestly wouldn't mind going back to Community North - We had a great experience there and I know they just finished a HUGE expansion project.
