New here, referred in hopes of getting some personal experiences with HBMWs in the area (I'm in Hagerstown). I'm currently 18 weeks, planning for an HBAC. I've made an appt with Evelyn M.; have also contacted Karen C. I received multiple references on both, though not so much directly from those who've worked with either of these women.<br>
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!<br><br>

I've had one appointment with Karen and she was great. Also, my mother-in-law is a midwife in a nearby state and has worked with Karen at several births and says she would trust her with her life!

Im seeing Evelyn now, have heard wonderful things about her. Theres another midwife in Frederick that a friend is using! if youd like I can get her info for ya. I have Karens #, too, for tub rental, I didnt know she was a midwife, though...

Evelyn attended the birth of my second baby when the Baltimore Birth Center was still open. I'm using her for this baby as well.

I couldn't agree more!! I've had two births with Karen and she went far beyond my expectations. We love her!

Liz is great- she was our doula for my son's birth. She has such a nice calm presence. I would highly recommend her.

With the legal status of homebirth in Maryland, I know we can't (well we can, but we shouldn't) discuss these things totally openly...but I'm pregnant and I'm trying to make the midwife decision also. I would love it if people with personal experience would PM me with who they used and why they recommend (or don't recommend) her. I'm having a hard time getting a variety of info. I'd like to go into interviews already knowing people's personal experiences. We are in Frederick and I've got my chiro's recommendation for one, and a friend who knows a few people and knows how they felt about who they picked. But only my chiro actually homebirthed. I tried reaching out to a few people via PM but haven't heard back. Any help would be greatly appreciated!<br><br>
I would also be interested in knowing if you chose to have parallel OB care or if you got all your care from your MW. I'm not totally sure what I want to do about that part. If you used an OB for care also, who did you use and would you recommend them? I really don't want to use an OB, but at the same time it's my first and I'm a bit torn about whether that would be the smart thing to do just in case.<br><br>
Sorry for a billion questions, but I'm desperate for personal experience info.

baby was born in an hour and half! Evelyn got here about 18 minutes after she was born <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> things went from 15-30 minutes apart to 5-3 minutes apart to like every minute very fast i called when they where 5-3 minutes apart and she is an hour+ away from me <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">
