I've been using homemade laundry soap for a few wks in my hot and cold loads, and I'm really pleased. I've been hesitant to try it in cold loads because I'm worried that it won't dissolve. Can someone with more experience tell me whether it works in cold? TIA!
This doesn't answer your question - but where did you find the recipe for the homemade gel? I make nearly everything from scratch, but still buy laundry detergent. I'm interested to know more...TIA.
Check the sticky at the top of the forum, annie - the laundry gel is the first recipe.
And, I've used it in cold water with no problems. The dry soap recipe doesn't work so well in cold water unless you first dissolve it in some warm, but the gel works great.
Tara - did you follow the recipe exactly?? I did and it separated after only two or so hours into a rubber substance (about 2") sitting on top of about 3 or 4" of nearly-clear water. I pureed the rubber and mixed it back into the water. Now it's foam on top of water but I just shake it up each time I use it. I figure the presentation may be ugly but the ingredients are still the same.
